Home of Paul Revere, Boston, Massachusetts, 1908, historic photo

A historic photo view of the home of Paul Revere, Boston, Massachusetts, in the North Square of Boston's North End. Built in 1680, this is the oldest remaining house in the Boston downtown area. Paul Revere purchased the home in 1770 and it continued as the Revere family home until 1800. In 1902, John P. Reynolds, Jr., a great-grandson of Paul Revere purchased the home and restored the home to its original appearance during the Revolutionary War. In 1908, the home was opened to the public and it has remained available for tours ever since. The Revere house is located at 19 North Square, Boston, Massachusetts.

This photo is by Detroit Publishing Co., 1908, just after the home had been restored and opened to the public.

Paul Revere was a well known Boston silversmith before the Revolutionary War. His attempt to warn of the approach of British forces was immortalized in the Henry Wadsworth Longfellow poem, Paul Revere's Ride.
