The tombstone and grave site of Bing Crosby, one of the most successful musical performers of all time. Crosby was born as Harry Lillis Crosby, Jr. on May 3, 1903 in Tacoma, Washington. Over the course of a more than fifty year career, Crosby recorded forty-one number one selling records. Total sales of all of his recordings exceed more than one billion copies sold. The best selling individual song of all time is White Christmas which Bing Crosby introduced on Christmas Day, 1941, which was less than three weeks after the bombing of Pearl Harbor and the entry of the United States into World War II. White Christmas has sold more 100 million copies and was also featured in the 1942 movie, Holiday Inn.

In addition to his success has a singer, Crosby also acted in a number of movies, first appearing in the 1930 film, King of Jazz. Other movies of note include: Road to Singapore (1940, the first of seven musical comedy "Road" movies co-starring Bob Hope and Dorothy Lamour); Holiday Inn (1942); Going My Way (1944, Crosby won the Academy Award for Best Actor); The Bells of St. Mary's (1945, Crosby was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actor); Road To Rio (1948); Angels In The Outfield (1951); White Christmas (1954); and High Society (1956). His final movie appearance was in That's Entertainment (1977). Crosby was also the narrator of the 1949 Disney animated film, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.

Crosby was an enthusiastic sportsman and enjoyed golf, horse racing, hunting and and fishing. From 1946 to 1977, Crosby was a co-owner of the Pittsburgh Pirates baseball team.

Bing Crosby died of an heart attack just after finishing a game of golf, near Madrid, Spain on October 14, 1977. He was 74 years old. His remains are buried in Holy Cross Cemetery, Culver City, California.
