W. A. Hunter, farmer and retired druggist, was born in Warren County, Tenn., in 1837, and is one of a family of four children born to the union of Thomas J. and A. Hunter, natives of North Carolina and Warren County, Tenn., respectively. The father came to Warren County when a small boy. He died in 1840. The mother was born in 1815 and died in 1883. Our subject was educated in Nashville and was apprenticed at the age of fourteen to learn the drug business. In 1865 he married Miss C. P. Gaildroth, a native of Jackson County, Tenn., born in 1859, and the daughter of Joseph and Martha Gaildroth. This union resulted in the birth of four children: William A., Addie A. (deceased), Mattie A. (deceased) and Josephine A. Mr. Hunter was engaged in the drug business in Nashville for twenty years, and is now living on his farm in Sumner County, Tenn. He is and has always been a Democrat in politics.
