Milton W. Chenault, one of the leading farmers and citizens of the First District of Sumner County, is a son of David and Louisa (Quisenberry) Chenault, and was born in Sumner County in 1849, being the tenth child of a family of fourteen children, nine sons and four daughters living. He was raised at home, and received a good common-school and business education. February 26, 1874, he married Miss Nannie, daughter of Woodford and Mary Dunn, of Sumner County, formerly of Kentucky, where Mrs. Chenault was born in April, 1854. They have two sons and two daughters: Henry, Mary, Louisa and Milton W. Mr. Chenault first settled on what is known as the Sharpe farm, and in 1883 moved to the old homestead farm, where he owns 250 acres of valuable land, finely improved, and containing a handsome brick residence, situated ten miles northeast of Gallatin in a fine agricultural section, and is one of the most desirable homes in Sumner County. He is a man of fine business capacity and a progressive farmer, being well posted in the practical lessons of agriculture and stock raising, and applies modern machinery to his farming operatings. He gives a generous support to all charitable and religious enterprises. Politically, Mr. Chenault is a Democrat, casting his first presidential vote for Horace Greeley in 1872. Mr. and Mrs. Chenault are active members of the Christian Church.
