Young M. Hudson was born in Maury County, Tenn., September 11, 1811, son of Adam B. and Priscilla (Thomas) Hudson, who were born in Maryland and were early emigrants to Davidson County, Tenn. They soon after removed to Maury County, Tenn., where they resided until 1836, and then moved to Mississippi, where he died the following year. The mother died in 1822. Young M. attended the common schools, and after attaining his twenty-first year farmed in Maury County until 1860, and then purchased his present farm, where he has since resided and tilled the soil. In 1836 he married Eliza B. Pickens, who died in 1853 leaving five children: William D., Mary C., James S., Eliza J. (Mrs. Robert Brothers), and Jesse J. In 1854 Mr. Hudson married Amanda J. Williams, of Giles County, and their union has resulted in the birth of five children: Isaac D., James S., Andrew N., Robert M. and Nora E., all of whom are living. Mr. Hudson’s political views are democratic, and he has been a member of the Masonic fraternity for upward of thirty years. He and Mrs. Hudson are members of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
