Below is a family biography included in the History of Allegheny County, Pennsylvania published in 1889 by A. Warner & Co.   These biographies are valuable for genealogy research in discovering missing ancestors or filling in the details of a family tree. WILLIAM ZINKHAN, contractor, post office McKee’s Rocks, a son of John and Annie C. Zinkhan, was born in Beaver county, in 1849. His father was born in Germany, in 1824; came to America in 1845, and settled in Pittsburgh, Pa., where he followed blacksmithing. From there he moved to Beaver county, where he spent the remainder of his life. He married, in 1847, Annie C. Bosley, of this county, and their children were William, George, Annie E., wife of Henry Hillburg; Mary M., wife of Rev. George Goetz, and John. Mrs. John Zinkhan died June 11, 1876, at the age of forty-nine years, and Mr. Zinkhan June 12, 1884, at the age of sixty years. William Zinkhan was reared in Beaver county, Pa. In 1862 he was employed on the Ft. Wayne railroad, after which he learned the cooper’s and later the carpenter’s trade, which has been his principal business through life, though from 1875 to 1878 he was engaged in the grain trade on the Ohio and Monongahela rivers, owning a boat named Zinkhan. Mr. Zinkhan came to McKee’s Rocks in 1881, where he follows the business of contractor and builder. He married, in 1872, Dora L., daughter of John F. and Mary Hague, and their children are Laura E., Estella, John R., William B., Claybell, Dora L. and Rachel V. (deceased). Mr. Zinkhan is a Freemason and a member of the I. O. H.
