W. C. ERSKINE, attorney, Pittsburgh, was born in the city of Belfast, Ireland, July 18, 1849, of Scotch-Irish parentage. He was educated in his native city, a place so famous for its schools that is often called “the Athens of the north.” He came to the United States in 1869, and during four years was engaged in various occupations and enterprises. In 1873 he married a daughter of Maj. Thomas McCreary, a banker of Beaver, Pa. Mr. Erskine was admitted to the bar at St. Louis, in March, 1876. In the same year he came to Pittsburgh, where he has ever since been engaged in the successful practice of his profession.
