Below is a family biography included in the History of Allegheny County, Pennsylvania published in 1889 by A. RICHARD BRANKSTONE, manager of glass works, P. O. Crafton, is a son of Richard and Ellen Brankstone, and was born in Cambridge, near Boston, Mass., June 15, 1841. He came with his parents from New York city in 1852, and settled in Pittsburgh, Pa., where he was engaged as a glass-worker. His parents had six children: James (deceased), Robert (deceased), William (deceased), George (deceased), Jenett (wife of R. T. McClure, who is engaged in the woodenware business at Erie, Pa.) and Richard. Richard, Sr., died of cholera in 1852; his widow is still living in the city of Erie, Pa., at the age of seventy-three years.

Our subject married in June, 1873, Jennie A., daughter of Hugh and Elizabeth Hamilton Adams, and they have two children living-Robert and Hugh. Mr. Brankstone, like his father, has devoted his life to the glass business, and is at present managing for Maing, Hart & Co. Glass-works, at Leasdale station, on the Pan Handle railroad. He is a member of the society of United Workmen; politically he is a republican, and voted for Harrison and Morton.
