DANIEL G. DONOVAN, shoe-merchant, McKeesport, was born at Latrobe, Pa., Sept. 6, 1852, a son of Michael and Sarah (Ryan) Donovan, natives of County Tipperary, Ireland, who came to America in 1850, and settled in Westmoreland county. Daniel G. was reared in Westmoreland county, and educated in the public schools and St. Vincent’s College. From 1869 to 1874 he was employed in the rolling-mills of Jones & Laughlin, of Pittsburgh, and three years thereafter managed the farm owned by St. Xavier’s Academy. In 1879 he came to Mc Keesport, and embarked in the shoe business, in which he has been very successful. He is a gentleman of sterling integrity, and is a wide-awake and enterprising citizen. He is a member of St. Peter’s R. C. Church, and is president of Branch 26, C. M. B. A.; he is a democrat.
