DANIEL DOUGHERTY, farmer, post office Green Tree, was born in Union township, Nov. 24, 1823, son of John Dougherty, who was born in Scott township, Allegheny county, Pa. John married Miss Mary Hager, and three sons and one daughter were born to them. Daniel is the only member of the family now living. He has always lived in the county, with the exception of the period spent in the army. He enlisted in 1861, in Co E, 9th P. V., and for three years defended his country. He was married, in 1852, to Hannah, daughter of Samuel Haudenshield, and they have had three children, two living: Jacob and Mary Ann. Mr. Dougherty is a member of the G. A. R.; he has been a member of the town council, and is a republican.
