Martin V. Graham may be classed among the prosperous farmers of Moniteau County, Mo. He was born in Jefferson County, of the “Blue Grass State,” March 7, 1842, his parents being William and Elizabeth (Farmer) Graham, who were Virginians. They were married in their native State, and afterward moved to Kentucky, where the father died in 1851. His widow and her children moved from that State to Missouri in the fall of 1855, and located first in Morgan County, and the following year took up their abode in Moniteau County, where the mother is now residing. She and her son, Martin V. Graham, live together, and have a farm of 160 acres, all under fence, well improved with good buildings and orchard. They also have a twenty-acre tract of timber land. They are members of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South, and he is a Royal Arch Mason. George W. Graham, another son, made his home with his mother until about 1871, when he began doing for himself, being engaged in farm work. He was married in Morgan County, July 4, 1874, to Miss Elizabeth Dale, who was born in Cedar County, Mo., and was reared there and in Morgan County, being a daughter of Jacob Dale. After his marriage Mr. Graham moved to Moniteau County, and settled on a farm he had purchased in the fall of 1873, it being partly improved at that time. He has seventy acres in the home place, besides eight acres of timber land, and on his farm is a substantial residence, with fair orchards and barns. He is a member of the Agricultural Wheel, and his wife is a worthy member of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South. They have two children: William M. and Louella.
