Frederick Bloch. The following outline, briefly narrated, is a sketch of the career of Frederick Bloch, a man of recognized worth wherever known, and whose present substantial position in life is largely due to his own perseverance. He was born in Canton Berne, Switzerland, June 7, 1846, and is a son of Samuel and Annie (Harney) Bloch, both natives of the Republic of Switzerland. [For further particulars of parents see sketch of Samuel Bloch.] Frederick Bloch was but four years of age when he crossed the ocean with his parents, and with them settled in Ohio, where he was principally reared and educated. He moved with his parents to Moniteau County, Mo., in 1860, and has resided in that county ever since. He served three months in Company I, Forty-fifth Missouri Infantry, as a substitute for his brother Samuel. In the fall of 1873 he married Miss Margaret Plank, a native of Germany. The fruits of this union were five children: Mary, Annie, Katie, Ella and Fred. Mr. Bloch is the owner of 200 acres of land, all well improved and with first-class buildings, which he has had put up in the last few years. He turns his attention entirely to the raising of grain and stock. He is a member of the Wheel, and is one of the prominent and successful citizens of the county. He and wife are worthy, consistent members of the German Evangelical Church.
