James A. Hanna, one of the well-to-do farmers of Elk River Township, McDonald Co., Mo., is a native of Washington County, Ark., who was born on October 5, 1848. His father, Henry Hanna, was a native of Kentucky, who removed to Arkansas in 1833, and resided there until he came to McDonald County, Mo., in 1858. The subject of this sketch came to McDonald County with his parents. During the war he spent one year in Texas, and the same length of time in Barry County, Mo., after which he returned to McDonald County, of which he has since been a resident. He is a prosperous farmer and a respected citizen. Besides an interest in the old homestead, he has 469 acres of good land. His wife was Louisa E. Marshall, a daughter of Henry Marshall, deceased. Their marriage was celebrated on August 14, 1870.
