Below is a family biography included in The History of McDonald County, Missouri published by Goodspeed Publishing Company in 1888.  These biographies are valuable for genealogy research in discovering missing ancestors or filling in the details of a family tree. George W. Epperson, a well-to-do farmer of McMillen Township, McDonald Co., Mo., is a native of Marion County, Ill., born on October 19, 1848. His father, Ashrey Epperson, was a native of Tennessee, who brought his family to Missouri in 1855. He first located in Newton County, but came to McDonald County two years later. Here he spent the remainder of his life. George W. Epperson was reared on his fathers’ farm, and secured a limited education in the common schools. Since reaching his majority he has been engaged in farming for himself and has been successful. He is the owner of 260 acres of fine land under a fair state of cultivation. Besides his farming interests he has for several years been managing a threshing machine, and now owns a Nichols & Shepherd separator and a traction engine. He also owns and operates a saw-mill. Mr. Epperson has been twice married. His first wife, Nancy Poe, to whom he was married in the spring of 1867, died in 1877, leaving three children: William, Charles and Edward. He was next married in the fall of 1878 to Hannah Meador, a daughter of Joel Meador, of Pineville Township, McDonald County. Two children have been born to this union, Henry and Marietta Ann. Mr. Epperson is one of the substantial citizens of the county, and is a member of the Farmers’ Alliance.
