Below is a family biography included in The History of Jasper County, Missouri published by Mills & Company in 1883.  These biographies are valuable for genealogy research in discovering missing ancestors or filling in the details of a family tree. SHERMAN F. BEEBE was born in Litchfield county, Connecticut, in the town of Colebrook, April 19, 1807. At the age of five his father removed to Chenango county, New York, where he engaged in farming. The subject of this sketch was married July 8, 1830, to Phoebe A. Reynolds, who was born in Rensselaer county, New York, May 25, 1812. Their children are: Hinkley and Orrin A. Mr. Beebe is a member of the Episcopal Church and a member of the Masons. In 1855 he emigrated to Wisconsin and Bremer county, Iowa. He came to Missouri in 1866, settling in Cooper county, and to Jasper county, in 1871. Mr. Beebe owns a farm of sixty acres, raising 900 bushels of corn; also 100 apple and 300 peach trees. There have been good showings of zinc blend and lead in paying quantities, the mine lying in the same belt of the Carthage mines, one mile north and one and a half miles west of Carthage. He enlisted from Iowa, in the Thirty-eighth; also two sons in the Ninth Iowa, who were promoted to captain and first lieutenant. Mr. Beebe is a grand old gentleman and has seen a good deal of the world.
