Duncan Robertson, farmer and stock raiser of Current Township, Dent Co., Mo., is a Scotchman, born in 1858, and is the son of Peter Robertson, who was also born in Scotland, in 1827, and died in Missouri, January 3, 1886, whither he had come in 1868. He was a farmer and stock raiser, and was married in his native country to Miss Margaret McLachlan, whose birth occurred in 1830. She is yet living, and resides in Texas County, Mo., with her son Peter. Duncan Robertson is the fifth of ten children, and lived with his parents until twenty-two years of age, receiving about four years of schooling in his native land, and about the same in the United States. After starting out in life for himself he began working on the grade of the Memphis Railroad, being made overseer of a gang of men, and by economy and industry accumulated sufficient means to enable him to purchase the farm of 124 acres where he now resides. He has sixty acres well improved, with good buildings and a thrifty young orchard. He is an industrious and enterprising citizen, and is an accommodating neighbor. He has always been a Democrat in politics, and March 7, 1886, was married to Miss Nancy Stubbs, who was born in Tennessee in 1868, by whom he has one child. Mrs. Robertson is a daughter of Andrew J. and Malinda Stubbs.
