Below is a family biography included in The History of Barry County, Missouri published by Goodspeed Publishing Company in 1888.  These biographies are valuable for genealogy research in discovering missing ancestors or filling in the details of a family tree. Richard Bradley, one of the prominent farmers of Capp’s Creek Township Barry Co., Mo located on his present farm in June, 1868. At that time the farm was entirely unimproved, but is now under a fine state of cultivation with valuable improvements. Mr. Bradley was born in Kentucky December 20, 1822, and remained in his native State until coming to Missouri. His father James Bradley, was a native of Virginia, and lived and died in Kentucky. The subject of this sketch was reared on a farm, and worked in a distillery He was married about 1842 to Jane A. Stogsdill, of Kentucky, by whom he is the father of five children. They are Francis M. (a farmer residing in the county), Rinda, Jones A. (who resides in Texas), Clara J. (the wife of Louis Wilson of Arkansas) and Harvey A. In October, 1861, Mr. Bradley enlisted in the Union army joining Company B, Twelfth Kentucky Infantry, with which he served until October, 1863, when he was discharged on account of disability. He has followed agricultural pursuits all his life, and has been very successful He has owned a great deal of land, some of the finest and best improved in the county but he has given considerable of it to his children, and has sold some. Politically he is a conservative, and for several years has voted with the Greenback party. He is a man of enterprise, and is highly esteemed by his neighbors.
