Below is a family biography included in The History of Barry County, Missouri published by Goodspeed Publishing Company in 1888.  These biographies are valuable for genealogy research in discovering missing ancestors or filling in the details of a family tree. C. W., M. E. and E. B. Chamberlain, members of the firm of Chamberlain Brothers, of Exeter, Mo., established their present business at the time the town was founded. C. W. Chamberlain, the senior member of the firm, located in Barry County, Mo., in 1877, and engaged in merchandising, in partnership with W. A. Terry, at Cassville. The latter is now a banker and merchant of Bentonville, Ark. C. W. Chamberlain continued in business at Cassville until he established his present enterprise. The Chamberlain brothers were born, reared and educated in Shenandoah Valley, West Virginia. C. W. was a merchant clerk while in his native State, and for four years prior to his coming to Barry County traveled for a wholesale dry goods house of St. Louis. He was united in marriage in 1876 with Maria Richardson, of St. Louis. M. E. Chamberlain was married in December, 1887, to Lorena Dodd, of Lebanon, Mo. Politically, the Chamberlain brothers are Democrats. They are energetic young men, are foremost in the support of public enterprises, and are among the leading merchants of the county. Besides their merchandising interest at Exeter, which is managed by the two youngest members of the firm, they deal extensively in timber. C. W. Chamberlain is president of the Springfield Lumber and Cooperage Company, which has a capital of $60,000.
