These biographies are valuable for genealogy research in discovering missing ancestors or filling in the details of a family tree. ROBERT O. WASH, of the firm of Wash & Boyd, Paducah, was born in what is now Trigg County, Ky., in the year 1846. His parents were William O. and Frances (Goodlett) Wash, one of the old and highly respected families of that part of the State. William O. Wash, who by birth was a Virginian, settled in Kentucky in 1812. He married Miss Goodlett, a native of Kentucky, and of Scotch ancestors; he was reared a mechanic, with which he combined general farming, and spent a long and useful life in Trigg County. He there died in 1882, at the age of sixty-nine years. Robert O. Wash was reared on his father’s farm, which he conducted for some years after attaining his manhood. After abandoning the farm, however, he went to Hopkinsville, Ky., and engaged in the hotel business, until his removal to Paducah in 1876. In connection with Mr. M. Boyd, he opened a restaurant and saloon at No. 10 North Market Street. Mr. Wash is a member of the K. of H. and I. O. O. F., and is a most amiable gentleman.
