These biographies are valuable for genealogy research in discovering missing ancestors or filling in the details of a family tree. DR. W. A. JORDAN was born in Lawrenceburg, Anderson Co., Ky., December 31, 1836. He is a son of J. G. and J. H. (Gaines) Jordan. The father was born in the same county and State, and died January 18, 1875, aged seventy-one. The mother was also born in the same county; she died May 15,1879, aged seventy-two. The doctor was reared on the farm, and later engaged in merchandising. At the breaking out of the war he enlisted in the First Kentucky Infantry, and served until the close, after which he commenced the study of medicine under the preceptorship of Dr. Morgan V. Tomlinson, and graduated in the class of 1873, from the Jefferson Medical College at Philadelphia. He then came to Clinton, where he has since been engaged at his chosen profession. Dr. Jordan was married in May, 1877, to Miss Belle, daughter of Dr. N. I. Hess, of Trenton, Tenn. Two children bless this union, one son and one daughter.
