L. STOUT, agent of the Southern Express Company, was born December 18, 1848, near Corinth, Miss. He is a son of Dr. Joseph and Martha A. (Patterson) Stout. The father was born in Dinwiddie County, Va.; he attended the Transylvania University from which he graduated in 1840; he then commenced the practice of medicine at Corinth, and so continued his profession till his death in 1868. The mother was born in Alabama, and is now living in Jackson, Tenn., with her daughter. Our subject entered the employ of the Southern Express Company in August, 1872, and ever since has been in the employ of this company. January 9, 1877 he came to Columbus. Mr. Stout was married in 1873, to Mattie Gillenwaters of Corinth; this union has been blessed with four children—two sons and two daughters. Mr. Stout is a member of the Knights of Honor, and Expressman’s Aid Society.
