JOHN C. EVANS was born December 16, 1819, in Dickson County, Tenn. He is a son of George and Jane (Baker) Evans. The father was born in Tennessee; he died in1872 in Hickman County, aged seventy-nine. The mother was also born in Tennessee; she died in 1880, aged eighty-one. Our subject came to Hickman County November 9, 1862, and has since been engaged in farming; he owns a farm where he now resides about one mile north of Clinton, also another farm elsewhere in this precinct, in all about 300 acres, all of which he has acquired by his own exertions. Mr. Evans was married, in 1852, to Rebecca Wilkins, of Tennessee. These parents have eleven children, six sons and five daughters. Mr. Evans is a member of the Masonic fraternity, and has served as deputy sheriff two years.
