Below is a family biography from the book, History of Kentucky, Edition 1 by J. H. Battle, W. H. Perrin and G. C. Kniffin and published by F. A. Battey Publishing Company in 1885.  These biographies are valuable for genealogy research in discovering missing ancestors or filling in the details of a family tree. Family biographies often include far more information than can be found in a census record or obituary.  Details will vary with each biography but will often include the date and place of birth, parent names including mothers' maiden name, name of wife including maiden name, her parents' names, name of children (including spouses if married), former places of residence, occupation details, military service, church and social organization affiliations, and more.  There are often ancestry details included that cannot be found in any other type of genealogical record.

EDWARD T. BULLOCK, the only surviving son of Judge Edward I. Bullock, was born in Fulton County, Ky., September 13, 1847. At the age of nineteen he graduated at the State University of Missouri, at Columbia, after which he was deputy circuit clerk of Hickman County for one and a half years. He then commenced the study of law under the instruction of L. D. Husbands, of Paducah. In 1869 he was admitted to the bar, practiced at Paducah until 1873, when he moved to Columbus, Ky., where he has since practiced his profession with excellent success. From 1869 to 1873 he was master commissioner of the McCracken County circuit court Mr. Bullock is and has been for four years city attorney for Columbus, and was a member of the Democratic Central County Committee for two years. He has also held the office of county examiner. He was married April 24, 1871, to Miss Bettey Pettitt, a native of Caldwell County, Ky. One son has been left to him. Mrs. Bullock departed this life in January, 1874. She was a devoted member of the Episcopal Church. Mr. Bullock is a member of the K. of H., of which order he is L. D. D. In politics he is a Democrat.
