Below is a family biography from the book, History of Kentucky, Edition 1 by J. H. Battle, W. H. Perrin and G. C. Kniffin and published by F. A. Battey Publishing Company in 1885.  These biographies are valuable for genealogy research in discovering missing ancestors or filling in the details of a family tree. Family biographies often include far more information than can be found in a census record or obituary.  Details will vary with each biography but will often include the date and place of birth, parent names including mothers' maiden name, name of wife including maiden name, her parents' names, name of children (including spouses if married), former places of residence, occupation details, military service, church and social organization affiliations, and more.  There are often ancestry details included that cannot be found in any other type of genealogical record.

C. C. WADE, Graves County, is the son of Hampton and Mary (King) Wade, and was born in Henry County, Va. The father was a farmer, and in 1844 emigrated to Weakley County, Tenn., where he remained until his death in 1868, at the age of seventy-four years. The mother died in January, 1881, at an advanced age. C. C. Wade remained with his parents until he was twenty-two years of age, when he engaged in business for himself as a farmer in the southern part of Graves County, where he purchased a tract of land, on which he resided for a period of fourteen years, when he disposed of his farm and bought his present beautiful place in Lynnville Precinct, which has been his home ever since. This farm comprises 200 acres of fertile land, and is justly considered one of the best plantations in southern Graves. Mr. Wade was married October 19, 1852, to Mary Ann, daughter of James and Sarah (Filgro) McCuan, the former a native of Tennessee and the latter of Kentucky. Mr. and Mrs. Wade are the parents, of the following children: Sallie Ann, Mary Jane (deceased), James Hampton, Ady, B. R., William C., George W., Virginia C. and Florence Lea Mr. Wade is an active member of Lynnville Lodge, No. 408, A. F. & A. M. In politics he is a liberal Democrat, voting for the man rather than the party. The dates of birth of Mr. Wade and family are as follows: C. C. Wade, born May 24, 1829; Mary A. Wade, born November 13, 1827; Sallie Ann Wade, born August 11, 1853; Mary Jane Wade, born October 9, 1854; James Hampton Wade, born August 21, 1856; Ada Wade, born November 26, 1858; B. R. Wade, born August 29, 1860; William C. Wade, born October 16, 1862; George W. Wade, born November 26, 1864; Virginia C. Wade, born July 15, 1868; Florence L. Wade, born June 13, 1873.
