Below is a family biography from the book, History of Kentucky, Edition 1 by J. H. Battle, W. H. Perrin and G. C. Kniffin and published by F. A. Battey Publishing Company in 1885.  These biographies are valuable for genealogy research in discovering missing ancestors or filling in the details of a family tree. Family biographies often include far more information than can be found in a census record or obituary.  Details will vary with each biography but will often include the date and place of birth, parent names including mothers' maiden name, name of wife including maiden name, her parents' names, name of children (including spouses if married), former places of residence, occupation details, military service, church and social organization affiliations, and more.  There are often ancestry details included that cannot be found in any other type of genealogical record.

W. W. WRIGHT was born April 22, 1816, in Davidson County, Tenn. He is the third of ten children, three boys and seven girls, born to John M. and Sarah (Thompson) Wright, natives of Virginia and Tennessee respectively, and of English and Irish origin. W. W. Wright was reared on a farm. He was married October, 1838, to Louisa Collins, of Davidson County, Tenn., a daughter of Thomas and Zilpha Collins. To this union was born one child, James, now dead. Mrs. Wright died October 26, 1839, and Mr. Wright was next married to Nancy E. Plummer, of Davidson County, Tenn., on September 1, 1842. She is the daughter of Hillery C. and Elizabeth (Phillips) Plummer, natives of Virginia and Tennessee respectively, and of English origin. To this union were born twelve children: Elizabeth (now King), William B., John H. (deceased), Thomas J.. Martha T. (deceased), Jully E. (deceased, was married to R. Lee); Amanda M. (Finch), Sarah J. (Drasdell), Charles M., Samuel H., Mary I. and Nancy C. Mr. and Mrs. Wright are members of the Methodist Episcopal and Baptist Churches respectively; subject is a Mason, and was formerly a member of the Grange. He moved from Davidson County to Jackson County, Ark., in 1850, but returned in one year. In 1857 he moved to where he now lives on 134 acres of land, which he has improved. Mr. Wright had one son in the Confederate Army.
