R. A. ROBINSON, Fulton County, was born in Columbus, Ky., July 28, 1850, and is the eldest of four children born to Smith and Edna (Merryweather) Robinson, natives of Kentucky, and of Irish and English descent, respectively. The father came to Hickman County about 1832. He was a farmer and speculator, and died here in 1865; the mother died about 1859. R.A. Robinson’s education was received at the common schools of Columbus and at Clinton College, from which institution he graduated in the class of 1869. After quitting school he clerked in a drug store at Clinton two years, and then formed a partnership with Dr. James A. Henderson, under the firm name of Henderson & Robinson. This firm remained in operation for three years, and then Mr. Robinson continued the business for himself until 1881, when he moved to Fulton. At this point he has continued the drug business with success, and at present has two stores. He was married in January, 1881, to Miss Gertrude Binford, daughter of Rob and Sarah (White) Binford, natives of Fulton County. This union has resulted in the birth of two children, Moss and James M. Mrs. Robinson is a member of the Baptist Church.
