H. P. ADAMS, Councilman, was born in Ohio, in 1848, where he received a common school education, and began farming at the age of eighteen; he continued in this occupation until 1873, at which time he came to Columbus, Kan., and was engaged in stock raising and farming for seven years; he then moved to the city of Columbus, but still owns his farm and raises and sells stock; he was elected Councilman in 1882, and has been Township Clerk of Crawford County, Kan., two years; he is a member of A. O. U. W., and an apprenticed Mason. He was married to Miss Annie Kail, of Ohio, in 1872. They have two children—Jackson M. and Julia V.
