WILLIAM W. DORSEY, farmer and stock-raiser, was born December 16, 1833 in Skelton Township, Warrick Co., Ind., and is the next youngest in a family of six children born to Greenberry and Susan (Cavender) Dorsey who moved from Kentucky, their native State, to Indiana Territory in about 1815 and settled in Warrick County. Their respective deaths occurred here in about 1840 and 1878. William W. made his home with his mother until he became of age, receiving a common school education. The autumn of 1855 he wedded Nancy Ellen Kelley, daughter of Isham Kelley, appropriate mention of whom is made elsewhere herein, and by her is the father of twelve children, the most of whom are now living. Mr. Dorsey has passed his life engaged in agricultural pursuits, and by his own industry and frugality has secured a pleasant home and a good farm of eighty acres. He belongs to the Odd Fellows fraternity at Folsomville, is a Democrat in politics and has served as Trustee of Owen Township two years. He and wife belong to the Christian Church at Crowville and are among Owen Township’s best families.
