JAMES N. SMAIL, farmer and stock-raiser, Sec. 34; P. O. Lexington; born in Morrow Co , Ohio, March 15, 1850, where he resided until 11 years of age; in 1861, he removed to Iowa, thence to Indiana the following year; in the fall of 1866, he removed to Illinois, locating in Coles Co., returning to Indiana two years later; since the spring of 1874, his home has been in Lexington Township, this county; owns forty-six acres of land. Married, in 1873, to Margaret A., daughter of Milton Bull; she was born in this county; children by this union - Cora A, James A. Mr. S. resided in Kansas during the fall and winter of 1871 and spring of 1872, where he was engaged in teaching.
